Baby Quail

So, last night, our neighbor's husky found 7 nearly dead baby quail in the gutter in front of her home. We tracked down where they had hatched and found 10 more eggs (sadly the babies didn't make it). However, my neighboor and I scooped up the 7 freezing babies and immediately put them on a couple of heating pads and then I stole Andrew's turtle heat lamp for them and I think that saved their lives (well, 4 out of the 7 are still with us). Two passed away at 1:30 am and the other at about 9:30 am. I'm really tired. They now are sucking sugar water out of a medicine syringe and are eating seeds from off my fingers. Hopefully they'll make it through since they are orphans. Our house is literally a zoo. Friends and neighbors bring their kids and grandkids over just to observe the wildlife here. We have two dogs, about 50 fish, 4 turtles, 2 crazy boys, and now 4 quail. Not to mention the two frazzled adults who may or may not be smarter than monkeys.

Sunday fun

So, we thought it would be a great idea to take some pictures of the kids after church . . .well, they thought otherwise. As you can see, Connor finally escaped, so we just gave up. I guess sitting still for three hours has its limits. Can't push it after that . . .
